Infantino: EcoSash Carrier

One thing that I am looking forward to trying with Parker is babywearing! With Caden I had a baby bjorn carrier and was not fond of it... so we did not babywear very often. This time I've armed myself with a few different carriers to see what I like!

The first carrier I received was an Infantino EcoSash Carrier.

"- 3-in-1 design: face-in, face-out and back carrier suited for 8-35 lbs (3.6-15.9 kgs)
- Buckle-free: just wrap, tie and go!
- Natural bucket seat.
- Easily adjusts for a perfect fit.
- Wide & comfortable padded straps.
- Super soft and breathable."

This carrier reminds me of the Mei Tei Style of carriers. I love that the baby can face forwards or backwards, and also the included hood. I've tried on the carrier several times using the Lee Middleton Doll featured in past posts of mine and it seems to be very comfortable. I'll have more to report once Parker finally decides to join us! The straps are very padded, which is wonderful... as thats what I hated about my Baby Bjorn carrier.

All in all, I am very pleased with both the look and feel of the EcoSash carrier so far! I can't wait to begin carting Parker around in it!

CSN.com: Dining Sets

Well, we finally did it. I posted before that I wanted to get a new King Size bed, to upgrade from our tiny queen... and after all my posting about king beds last month, we did it. We bought a king size bed! It's heavenly!

So now, in my wonderful nesting, I've moved on to my new obsession... dining sets. Ours is tiny, and with having two boys and a husband, I'm going to need all the food space I can get! :) So, I hit up one of my favorite sites, CSN's DiningRoomsDirect.com to check out my options.

Here are some of my favorites!

I love the details of the Hillsdale Embassy 5 Piece Dining Set...

But realistically, we need more table space.

Gorgeous right?

Baby Shower:CD: Kissaluvs

One thing that I will be doing differently this time around is dabbling in wool! With Caden, I used all PUL covers, but recently I've been bitten by the fall longies bug, and have ordered both boys a few pairs of longies each. I cannot wait for them to arrive!

I've been reading all that I can in anticipation of these cute new covers, and have come to the conclusion that fitteds work the best under wool... and that KL0s (Kissaluvs size 0s) are a favorite for newborns. So that is a combination that we will be testing out! Kissaluvs sent me a KL0 to try out with Parker, but seeing as he is not here yet, I haven't been able to test it. I will let you know a bit about them though!

KL0s fit from aproximately 5-15 lbs and require a cover, as they do not feature a waterproof layer. You can tell that the fitted is a size 0 by it's light brown stitches. (The other sizes feature rainbow stitching.)

"The v2.0 Kissa’s now feature microfiber soakers instead of cotton terry. Since the soaker is hidden, you will not feel or see any difference in the soaker, except the marked increase in absorbency. The v2.0 have rainbow serging in the Size 1 and 2 diapers and light brown in Size 0, to help you differentiate the from the original.
Kissaluvs diapers are known for quality fabrics and terrific fit. Our diaper fabrics are custom-made for us right here in the USA, including our wonderfully soft, absorbent, and durable cotton fleece.

Helpful "ingredients" you will find in Kissaluvs diapers:

  • Beautifully textured fabrics to help contain even the runniest poop
  • Fabric options, including unbleached cotton fleece and organic cotton with hemp, as well as gorgeous Limited Edition diapers of various colors and trims
  • Stretchy elastic and fabrics for a snug fit without binding
  • Elastic at leg and back openings to contain messes and floods
  • Sturdy polyacetal resin snaps... easy access for parents, not so easy for curious toddlers
  • Uniquely spaced adjustable wing snaps ... snap consecutively or over three snaps depending on your baby's build
  • Overlapping wings on the larger sizes to fit even thin babies
  • Unique fit with low-rise front and full coverage in back
  • Simplicity of design, especially popular with dads and babysitters!
  • See our fitted diapers on babies!
  • Pair with our Marvels Diaper Cover for a leak-proof fit."

Baby Shower:CDs: KAM Snaps

As we grow closer to the due date of our second child, one of the biggest things on my mind is our cloth diapering a newbie. With Caden we didn't start cloth diapers until he was around 6 months old, so this is all new to me! (and I'll admit, while I have a large NB/OS stash, I have bought some sposies just in case!) One thing that I was somewhat worried about is using our OS stash for the second time. Some of the velcro is wearing on our BumGenius 3.0s and GroBaby covers, causing the diaper tabs to become unstuck if Caden rolls around or whatnot. So I began researching my options. The two options I found were to send off my diaper stash to a WAHM to be converted to snaps... or to buy a set of pliers and snaps and do them myself. Since I strive to save money everyway that I can, I decided that doing it myself would be my best option. That's when I found KAMSnaps.com.

KAMSnaps.com sells an assortment of snap products. They offer both a set of snap pliers and a snap press. They also sell a LARGE assortment of snaps in pretty much every color that you can think of! I love that they even offer colors to match the BumGenius 3.0s exactly... not to mention the specialty snaps that you can order, like star shaped or engraved snaps! (How cute are these painted lion caps??)

I will soon receive a set of KAM snap pliers and snaps to begin converting my diapers. I have found a few picture tutorials online and plan to go off of those in the beginning. I will also be documenting how it goes/how I do it with pictures so that I can share that with all of you! I definitely plan to convert some BumGenius 3.0s and Gro Babys in the beginning, so definitely check back for information on doing those! In the meantime, if you are looking to begin converting your diapers, check out KAMSnaps.com for all your snaps needs! (They run a great deal where if you buy a set of pliers you get 200 sets of size 20 snaps for $7.95 plus free shipping!)

Baby Shower: Cloth Diapering

Welcome to the 1st Baby Shower on The First Time Around!

As we dive into baby products galore, I thought we'd begin with one of the biggest changes our little one will bring about... Diapering. With the first child, I didn't really weigh my options at all. Diapering was diapering... you stick whatever brand of disposable diaper you have onto your babys booty. Then I found the world of blogging... which lead to the world of cloth diapers.

Now, while I do use disposables from time to time, we are mainly a cloth diapering family. I love that it saves us tons of money (as long as I stay away from Diaperswappers and Spots Corner) and how CUTE they are! (not to mention how I'm not filling our landfills with POO!)

This week I will be posting about the different types of cloth diapers, getting diapers ready for a second child, and a few reviews and giveaways! Make sure to check back with TFTA for all your cloth diapering information!
